Esta pedra de tropeço é o que tem levado muitos dos bons médiuns a resvalar pelos caminhos do ócio e da desesperança, pois ao se entregar a este sentimento tão pernicioso, logo caem presos dos maus Espíritos e certamente o resultado é a obsessão tenaz, que se instala lentamente.
Observai a maneira pela qual vos comportais em vossas atividades medianímicas. Sabeis que, no serviço da mediunidade, estais desempenhando um papel de intermediário entre os dois mundos e embora emprestando também vossos sentimentos e saber intelectual, é trabalho do mundo espiritual trazer através de vós as palavras que instruem, consolam, alertam e educam as criaturas.
Falo para os médiuns, pois é neles que se centra a maior parte das perturbações existentes nos núcleos espíritas. Por deterem o dom do intercâmbio, dado por Deus, sentem-se prontos para desempenhar a tarefa sem a salutar necessidade do estudo. Resistem à disciplina por inspiração de Espíritos atrasados que conduzem seus pensamentos. Na maioria das vezes, ditam as regras das casas espíritas, inspirados por esses mesmos irmãos infelizes, que se comprazem em manter a casa sob o manto do atraso, da fantasia, da hipocrisia e da desordem.
Irmãos espíritas! Livrai-vos do melindre, praga venenosa que corrói grande parte dos núcleos. O melindre, como sabeis, é filho dileto do orgulho e se bem soubessem, esses que o cultivam, a grande nuvem de perturbação que os envolvem cada vez que sintonizam nessa faixa, bem depressa cuidariam de extirpar esse mal de dentro de si. É o melindre o principal entrave a que os núcleos se organizem de forma a produzir mais e melhor. É o melindre o impedimento para que os homens cresçam, pois ele obstrui o saber na medida que endereça o melindrado ao entendimento de que todos os esforços de organização das casas espíritas são falta de caridade.
O filho do orgulho não permite que o homem anteveja sua condição de necessitado, sua condição de aprendiz. Jamais um melindrado pode ser um servo do Senhor, pois a condição fundamental para tal posição é a humildade e desta virtude ele é um grande carente. O orgulhoso que se diz servo de Jesus, o faz com o sentimento de falsa humildade, buscando para si o reconhecimento por ser "bom" e "sábio", colocando-se antes como mestre. Pode-se bem reconhecê-los pela extrema dificuldade que encontram em adaptar-se às normas que disciplinam a casa espírita. Geralmente estão sob o império da obsessão e não se apercebem disso. Se alguém identifica e tenta auxiliar, o resultado é catastrófico.
Grande tristeza é constatar a imensa falta que faz o entendimento pleno da doutrina de Jesus dentro dos núcleos espíritas. O Espiritismo veio ao mundo para auxiliar o homem no entendimento das coisas de Deus, esclarecendo pontos obscuros da mensagem divina. Infelizmente, grande parte dos núcleos executam uma doutrina de superficialidade, inócua para o progresso do Espírito imortal e se acham presos de uma mentalidade que mais serve aos propósitos do mundo que aos desígnios de Deus.
E vós, medianeiros espíritas, meditai acerca das responsabilidades assumidas diante do Alto. Deixai de lado a tola vaidade e o descabido orgulho que mancham vossas ações com atitudes de melindre, que interrompem vosso progresso. O amadurecimento espiritual terá que ser meta a perseguir na senda da vida. Sede, portanto, vigilantes na conduta, pensamento e acima de tudo, no testemunho diário na convivência entre os vossos pares. Saber servir é sabedoria. Que Deus vos abençoe" - Um Espírito Protetor.
