Secretário promete recuperar todas as faixas de areia até 2014

Uma das áreas do país mais afetadas pela erosão marinha, as praias de quatro municípios da Região Metropolitana do Recife devem receber R$ 330 milhões em investimentos para que sua faixa de areia seja recomposta. Segundo o secretário estadual de Meio Ambiente de Pernambuco, Sérgio Xavier, todas as praias que tiveram suas faixas de areia diminuídas ou até mesmo extintas serão recuperadas até o final de 2014. Entre as ações previstas está o alargamento das praias, com o deslocamento de areia coletada no fundo do mar e o redimensionamento dos quebra-mares construídos justamente para evitar a erosão. A primeira fase do projeto já começou em Jaboatão dos Guararapes, ao sul de Recife, com R$42 milhões financiados pelo Ministério da Integração Nacional. Por causa da erosão, o município entrou em situação de emergência no início de fevereiro deste ano.
