Ainda se desconhece a origem dos incêndios, mas acontecem em um momento no qual a Califórnia vive uma das piores secas de sua história e em uma semana de altas temperaturas e fortes rajadas de vento.
A sequência de incêndios que começou nas proximidades da cidade de San Diego é considerada incomum por sua intensidade e rapidez que as chamas avançam, algo que é mais frequente nos meses de verão.
Por enquanto não se informou que os incêndios tenham deixado feridos, mas o condado de San Diego declarou na quarta-feira (14) estado de emergência e estimou que pelo menos 20 estruturas ficaram completamente arrasadas pelas chamas.
